About The Owner/Creative Designer
As a teenager, Joe Taylor got a job driving a delivery truck for a theatrical props company in New York. He loved it for 10 years and would have stayed had not a wife and kids coming along. Duty called. So he quit the theatrical props company and got a job driving New York City transit buses and stayed behind the wheel for 21 years until his retirement in 1990. What was the first thing he did with his free time? He went back to the theatrical props company and worked there nine years before leaving to start his own business in New Jersey, renting out props for local theater productions, weddings, banquets and the like. Joe’s work has been displayed for the benefit of numerous renowned sets: Apollo Theater, Saturday Night Live, All My Children, The Maury Show, Radio City Music Hall and a host of Broadway and off Broadway plays.
Joe moved to Atlanta in 2002 and brought Creative Props Rental - the faux palm trees, lampposts and plaster columns - and opened his Cascade Road showroom in March 2003. One day, Joe, with paint-stained fingers wearing a T-shirt and jeans, was working on a backdrop for a high school theatrical performance. He was smiling and said, “I love this. The only reason I left before was because I needed more money and security for my family. I like decorating and creating."
